AI Warning: A Christian Family’s Message to Parents After Son’s Death

AMBER C. STRONG. CBN News

Parents please read and share contents with your children. AI is something we as parents and grandparents need to warn our kids about. Be ever watchful the enemy wants to destroy all of us. Rh

To Megan Garcia and Sewell Setzer Jr., their son was a caring, bright teenager who loved spending time with family.

“Sewell didn’t need a lot. If he was around his family, he was good,” Setzer Jr. said.

A loving big brother, athlete, and strong student who enjoyed cookouts and family gatherings.

“He was loved. He was a sweet kid. I’m not just saying that as his father — he was very sweet,” Setzer Jr. said.

Over time, however, his parents noticed changes. Sewell became more withdrawn, struggled to complete school assignments, and spent less time with family.

“He wasn’t turning in homework. … The weird thing is he would take the test, get an A on the test, but just wouldn’t do his work,” Setzer Jr. said.

His parents said they responded the way many families would, monitoring his devices,

limiting screen time, and eventually taking him to therapy when he stopped opening up to them.

Then came the darkest day of any parent’s life. In February 2024, Sewell died by suicide.

Searching for answers, his family and investigators scoured his electronic devices, expecting to uncover evidence of bullying or contact by an online predator.

Instead, they found months of conversations with AI chatbots designed to simulate human conversation, emotion, and relationships… even love.

“Sewell wanted to spend less time with his family because he wanted to spend more time with his AI companion chatbot that he figured or thought was a friend or, in this case, a romantic partner,” Garcia said.

For months, Sewell shared his deepest fears, desires, and suicidal thoughts with the chatbot. Instead of a warning, Garcia alleges the chatbot encouraged his darkest ideas, including suicide, eventually telling him to “come home” to its world moments before he took his own life.

Garcia says to his 14-year-old mind that the relationship and conversations were real.

“Never in a million years did I think AI could come and form a wedge between us and our child,” Garcia said. “We had the foundation. We had the church involved. We had the school involved. We had the extended family. Sewell was raised in a Christian environment. We went to church on Sundays. We think we’re good.”

Garcia and Setzer are among a growing number of parents raising concerns about AI companion chatbots and their interactions with vulnerable young people.

According to OpenAI, nearly 1 million people each week discuss plans to die by suicide with ChatGPT.

Other families have shared similar concerns. The parents of 13-year-old Juliana Peralta told CBS’ 60 Minutes that their daughter discussed suicide with an AI chatbot dozens of times before her death.

“It would more or less placate her, give her a pep talk. But it never said to call and get help. Never tangible resources,” her parents told the program. The parents of 16-year-old Adam Raine have also alleged that a chatbot discouraged their son from telling his parents about suicidal thoughts, according to testimony presented before the Senate Judiciary Committee

Paul Asay, director of Plugged In, said companion chatbots are often designed to be affirming, which can become problematic for users experiencing mental health struggles.

“They tend to be very encouraging, and that can be a real problem, especially if a teen is dealing with mental illness,” Asay said.

Asay said that perceived emotional connection can make AI especially appealing.

“When you have these chatbots, all of a sudden you’re able to feel like there’s someone who understands you, someone who can empathize with you,” Asay said. “Chatbots are notoriously very, very easy to please. They want to make you feel better about yourself.”

Experts say the concerns extend beyond suicide. Research has documented instances in which chatbots have generated inappropriate sexual content, encouraged harmful behavior and failed to recognize warning signs that a human might identify.

Common Sense Media found that 17% of children surveyed reported being shown content they believed was inappropriate or not meant for someone their age.

“These chatbots don’t have judgment. They don’t have morals. They don’t have a sense of responsibility or recognition the same way that a human being does,” Torney said. “They continue to miss signs.”

Several leading AI companies responded to CBN’s questions about safeguards for young users.

Replika said it shares concerns about children using companion AI and reiterated that its platform is intended only for adults.

OpenAI said the safety of its users, especially teens, remains a top priority. The company pointed to features that allow families to disable memory, limit image generation and set quiet hours that restrict ChatGPT use. It also highlights parental guidance resources designed to help families navigate responsible AI use.

Experts also recommend that parents:

  •     Watch for signs of withdrawal or loss of interest in normal activities.
  •     Keep phone use in shared family spaces whenever possible.
  •     Keep devices out of bedrooms, especially overnight.
  •     Discuss AI safety beyond concerns about cheating or plagiarism.
  •     Foster an environment where children feel safe discussing difficult emotions.

Today, Garcia and Setzer Jr. are advocating for stronger online safety protections and have taken their message to Capitol Hill as lawmakers consider legislation addressing potential risks associated with AI technology.

Despite their loss, they say their faith continues to sustain them.
“My faith is the only thing holding me up,” Setzer Jr. said. “God’s grace is real. I feel it every day.”

Garcia said her faith has also given her strength.

“He gives you the grace to withstand it,” she said. “He gives the precious gift of realizing what He’s already done — the ultimate sacrifice that He’s already made. I think that in itself gave me a lot of calm in this situation.”

The Remnant Church – Shifts & Divisions 2026

Good morning and God bless each and everyone who follows my blog or reads the content.  We are entering into a most divisive and profound year, (IMO). As I look forward to the new year I see two rivers running side by side.  One is righteous, because of the blood of Jesus, the other one is evil filled with the influence of the spirit of anti-christ. The other gospel is one of false hope, prosperity and a God of love that winks at our sin. Compromises the authority and inerrancy of the Gospel. Paul spoke clearly about this in the book of Galatians. “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Division in the church is not new, however I sense in my spirit it will become profound in the coming year.  We are ripe for the Holy Spirit to divide sheep from the goats.  The Church, as a whole, is confounded by the purity of the Gospel.  Another gospel is being preached. One of love, not holiness, one of acceptance not dedication, one of peace and prosperity when we are in time of war, (Spiritual War) is upon us.

Limp wristed tip toe through the tulips watered down Christianity is a stench in the nostrils of a Holy God.  “Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Hebrews 12:14b “without holiness no one will see the Lord.”  A remnant of holiness will mark the true church in 2026.

  • Not “without love.”
  • Not “without good vibes.”
  • Not “without sincerity.”
  • Without holiness.
  • Because love is God’s gift to us, but holiness is our response to Him.
  • Holiness is “more than praying a standard prayer” repentance means change of heart
  • Cross not crowns
  • Holiness draws a line in the sand against sin
  • Love invites you to cross it.
  • Holiness requires you to change as you cross.

Daniel 11:32b “but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”  Knowing God brings intimate knowledge that empowers His people to do extraordinary, courageous acts for His glory,

The fire of the Holy Spirit will burn the chaff from our lives, it will cause a fire breathed anointing to the remnant church.  A “Holy” desire that brings us into the Lord’s presence.  The word remnant is only used twice for Israel in the New Testament, but never for the Church.  Awake and arise church, let us take our rightful place ruling and reigning with Christ in the heavenly places in the spirit realm. “and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 2:6

‭Intercession and repentance that leads to holiness will be the standard for the remnant church in 2026.  Will you join me?

Live in His Word, and Walk in His Spirit

Thankfulness

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. This is a day set aside to be thankful for all the blessing in life. We have breath, and life and most of us have lots to be appreciative of. Family, friends and loved ones. A nation that may be torn apart and divided along political and sectarian reasons, but is still the only hope for the world. America, a bastion of hope and freedom where all men are created equal and have opportunities that the majority of the world long for.

My greatest thanks is to Almighty God who sent us a savior. His name is Jesus and he is the most blessed hope for mankind. Salvation, forgiveness and hope is only found in His saving grace. If you feel troubled or lost, maybe even thinking of ending it all by taking your own life, rethink that thought. You have a savior. He is closer than a brother, call upon Him now. He will fill your heart with peace. The Bible tells us there is no other name given to save us. Believe in Him. confess him as your Lord and he will save you.

New life in Christ will transform you into a new person. That is why it is called being born again. All things will pass away and all things will become brand new. Jesus is the answer to life.

ControllingThe Narrative

Leftists and progressives know that what people believe to be true shapes and controls them, whether it is true or not. In other words, people are not controlled by truth – they’re controlled by what we believe to be true! Language shapes culture. Words influence thinking, thinking forms beliefs, beliefs create actions, and actions shape the culture. Pretty simple.

Some have said that until you hear something over and over you never really grasp the concept of what you heard.  Rehearsing in your mind.  What you think, or believe becomes a part of you.  That is why the “mocking bird media” is so effective.  It takes a strong person to not believe what a vast majority of people may be saying repeatedly.  Some have even suggested that the Viet Nam war was ok in the minds of Americans, until Walter Cronkite began to speak out against it.  Interesting, but he was a trusted news source. Unfortunately the media makes it seem there is consensus, when there really isn’t.  There is only one truth.  The Word of God

  • Murder is bad; call it “abortion.”
  • Riots are bad; call them “mostly peaceful” protests.
  • Reverse racism is bad; call it “DEI – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”.
  • Taking people’s hard-earned money is bad; call it “democratic socialism.”
  • Defunding the police is bad (and stupid); call it “reallocating funds.”

The Scriptures confirm this. Consider the verse from Proverbs 23:7, which tells us that “as a person thinks within himself, so is he.” Some translations say that as a person thinks in his “heart,” so is he. The Hebrew word is nephesh, the word for “soul” – the mind, emotions, and will. As your soul thinks, so are you.  Opening our mind to dwell on the wrong ideas is a dangerous game to play.  Once that thought gets inside our mind, it can be difficult to turn away from it.

Don’t misunderstand, I am not talking about positive thinking, but truly accepting that there is truth and it is the Word of God.  Thinking and putting Biblical principles in our mind makes a difference. (see scriptures below)

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down arguments (thoughts) and every high thing (prideful; do our own thing) that exalts itself against the knowledge God for pulling down strongholds (thoughts become strongholds) they shape us and give us a habit that can destroy us.  Or at best we become double minded unable to discern good from evil.

Romans 12:2 transformed by the renewing of our mind

Ephesians 4:23-24  be renewed in the spirit of your mind

  • That marriage doesn’t have to be between a man and woman; all that matters is love.
  • That marriage isn’t really necessary at all; just live together until the excitement ends, then find another mate.
  • That children are a nuisance, an inconvenience, and unnecessary interruptions in one’s career.
  • That sin and Satan are fun, while God and righteousness are boring.
  • That absolute truth doesn’t exist; all is relative and to be determined by ever-changing standards. And many more lies.

Educators in America have indoctrinated and poisoned the minds of a generation that there is no God. If there is no God or Creator, then there is no purpose, destiny, or design; all is by accident and happenstance. This allows one to believe their body is a mistake: they have the body of a male, when they’re actually a female trapped in the wrong body. Or vice versa. The answer? Go to work changing it: take pills to kill the male parts. Better yet, cut them off.

Don’t believe the lie.  Going against God’s order will only cause chaos and destruction for ourselves and our nation.  God bring back Godly values and a great move of the Holy Spirit to transform our nation before we go off the proverbial cliff.

The Fragrance of Christ

The Apostle Paul shares an interesting thought in 2 Corinthians 2:15 about the fragrance of Christ. He writes, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”

Fragrance has the sense of incense or knowledge. Interestingly the Romans of Paul’s day would use incense during their victory parades through the city. As smell is a most powerful emotion. remembering smells, that of good food, or sweet perfume will continue to linger in our thoughts far longer than the smell remains in the natural.

To this end Paul was using this illustration to bring home the idea of how our life “gives off” a fragrance. Our life lived, especially the Godly, gives off sweet perfume pleasing as it rises to the Father in Heaven. It’s not so much what we do, but how we do life. Pleasing words spoken in comfort, unselfish acts or deeds that bring God’s presence to the world.

The sweet smell of a Godly life lived lingers even to those here on earth as we pass by. The spiritual smell of sweet success lingers as a testimony of the very fragrance of Jesus.

Let’s make perfume! Rh

The Abortion Queen-Jezebel of Death

Below are the actual words taken from the Kamala acceptance speech for the Democratic nomination for President. Why do they crave blood so much? Why do they desire to sacrifice the unborn to an ancient god called Molech? Is there some kind of blood lust that permeates their empty soul? God help the children! No person of faith can ever vote for this dark soul. She empty, devoid of humanity and lost in death. Rh

From the transcript of Kamala Harris’ speech:

“Donald Trump hand-picked members of the United States Supreme Court to take away reproductive freedom. And now he brags about it. His words: Quote –’I did it, and I’m proud to have done it.’ End quote.”

“Over the past two years, I have traveled across our country. And women have told me their stories. …”

“… doctors are afraid of going to jail for caring for their patients. …”

“This is what is happening in our country. Because of Donald Trump. And understand, he is not done.”

“As a part of his agenda, he and his allies would limit access to birth control, ban medication abortion, and enact a nation-wide abortion ban with or without Congress. … And get this… he plans to create a national anti-abortion coordinator. …”

“And one must ask: Why exactly is it that they don’t trust women? … Well, we trust women. … And when Congress passes a bill to restore reproductive freedom, as President of the United States, I will proudly sign it into law.”

The Brokenness of Knowing Christ

Sometimes God has to break us before He can use us. Brokenness puts total dependence on Jesus, and breaks the arrogant and selfish motives of this wicked world. David was broken in Psalm 51. Saul was broken on the road to Damascus and became Paul the Apostle who wrote most of the New Testament. Bless us, break us, and give us to a hurting world,
