The Church is in business to do 3 things really well. Many churches in America and around the world may do one or two great but fall off on the other. The primary mission of the church is to make disciples. The last words of Jesus Mt. 28:18-20, were to go into all the world and make disciples. Teaching how to observe His commandments. Impacting the culture and healing the sick and hurting. Never has there been more hurt and confusion in the world than now. For the Church to be the Church these three must be done. Despairing of Life
Doing my Bible reading this morning, I came across a text in 2 Corinthians 1:8 that got me thinking of present day Christians. Being an “old guy” I am not expecting the world to be all rosy and perfect. I understand living in the real world. I like to think I am a realist not a pie in the sky kind of person. However, I am a man of faith and have experienced God do great miracles and moved spiritual mountains for me. The text here talks of Paul despairing of life so much that he says he “had the sentence of death within ourselves,” even more he says “we would not trust in ourselves.” Can you imagine the great Apostle Paul feeling down and depressed? Not sure of where to turn or what decision to make? Makes me feel better. I have been there. Down and sad and not sure of my next decision.
Don’t be afraid of showing the Lord your feelings, he already knows. Life is tough and this present world is sick, but the Lord is a very present help in our time of need. He already knows our feelings and Jesus is touched by our pain. He stands ever ready to help us and comfort us.
Notice what Paul says next, “but in God who raises the dead; who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope.” When we place our hope in Jesus we will never lack or be disappointed.
Much of what I do with CCCoalition is outside the church and I have learned that the Lord is always present to help. Don’t give up, keep fighting, God will see you through it. Rh
Resurrection Sunday
Tomorrow is a red letter day in Christianity. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins, and opened up a way into the Father. We believe that our sins are forgiven because of Jesus death on the cross. Innocent blood had to be shed to gain redemption and justification in God’s eyes.
Many may ask why is it important for Christ to rise from the dead. Paul answers this in 1 Corinthians 15:17 “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” He further states in verse 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. As Christians our blessed hope is to be with Christ in eternity.
May you have a joyous day in the Lord tomorrow on Resurrection Sunday. Celebrate Jesus!
Sanctuary or “Holy Place”
As I was reading in Ezekiel this morning I came to a powerful insight for us today. Ezek.11:16 talks about how God is dispersing Israel because of their sin and apostacy. But in the midst of that God tells them in v.16 that when they are driven out of Jerusalem, and scattered “He will be a little sanctuary (Holy Place) for them in the countries where they have gone”.
Powerful, even under the judgement of God, which I believe America is under at the present time, God always tempers with grace. Grace is divine favor or getting what we DON’T deserve! What a beautiful picture of the everlasting love of God.
If you are in a tough place this is not the time to give up. Reach out to the Lord, He is only a whispered prayer away. Rh
Contending For The Faith – Part 3
Pastors and churches have become very proficient in getting people “saved,” but not very good at getting them discipled. Preachers know how to pull at the heart strings to get people emotionally connected enough to confess Christ, raise your hand, pray a sinner’s prayer. Don’t misunderstand, there is nothing at all wrong with that. In fact every person has a starting point and that is it.
The Word in Matthew 28:19 tells us to “Go therefore and make disciples.” Hardest part of church life is being taught the Word. Teaching involves letting people know right from wrong in behavior and conduct. Teaching and instructing new converts may seem boring and not as exciting or glamorous as the jump and praise of a worship time, but is needed even more.
New converts may not know much of church culture and little of how to study and pray, WE as the church need to get on the ball and learn how to instruct and disciple newbies. Grab someone and be a mentor. Study after Church study shows us that few people in the pews truly understand what it means to have a Biblical World View. Each one teach one. We are all called to be one on one teachers! Take someone under your wing and be responsible for them.
Knowing right from wrong is not hard, but don’t settle for almost right. In this day and age we need clarity and a firm footing to survive the present evil day. Rh
Contending for the Faith. Part 2
The most important thing is to preach Jesus, and the second most important thing is to preserve the most important thing.
That is why I get involved in politics. The Church has been silent too long in allowing the degradation of society. Pastor if you’re not preaching about a Biblical Worldview or preaching on Biblical values you are missing a chance to change society. Do you preach on Pro Life Sunday? Did you know there was a pro life Sunday? What about voter registration Sunday? Did you know there is a big push to legalize drugs? How about speaking out to stop sex trafficking or gender confusion? Yeah I know stop being negative. It’s not negative, when we as the collective church have not been proactive in social issues.
We have been really good at getting people “saved”, but what about discipleship. If we are to be world changers, then what about impacting our world with Biblical morality?
39% of Evangelical Pastors Reject absolute moral truth
69% Agree life is sacred
37% say having a faith is more important than what your faith is
51% of adult Christians claim a Biblical Worldview
It’s time we as the Ekklesia of God should be the leading force to transform this wicked world. Be a world changer. Live on the edge of societal revolution, because we know Truth by name, His name is Jesus!

Ex-Navy SEAL’s One-Word Response When Asked the Best Way to Prevent Horrific Mass Shootings
5/31/2022 06:20:30 PM Billy Hallowell
Veteran Navy SEAL Jimmy Graham delivered a one-word answer when asked to reveal the most powerful preventative deterrent to violent mass shootings like the one that unfolded this week in Uvalde, Texas.
“Jesus,” he said without missing a beat. He then expounded on his belief America has strayed from its biblical foundations.
“I would plead with people to return to the foundation that built this nation,” he said. “There are biblical foundations that built this nation. They’re proven to work, and we’ve chosen not to use them.”
Graham added, “There’s nothing wrong with the plan; we’ve just chosen not to do it.”
The ex-SEAL is the founder of Able Shepherd, a training program that equips people to protect churches, schools, and other institutions. He deals daily with the kinds of training needed to prepare people for dangerous situations
My friends Jesus is the only solution to the ills and depravity of this world! We cannot deny evil, it is present, our only hope is a return to moral and Godly values. A great move of repentance and a cry for mercy in this nation. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people…….rh
Word For Today
Do you ever get tired of fighting battles everyday? Which battle for the day is more important? Thank God there is diversity in the body of Christ. With that diversity we can join the fight in multiple areas that are of most concern to us. Where to start?
Abortion is always in the forefront. The WHO trying to destroy our medical freedoms. School boards need to be taken over by morally conservative parents. Primary elections are coming up, and the list goes on and on, but we can fight on multiple fronts.
Galatians 6:9 “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” That’s the word for today
Merry Christmas
