Iran protest death toll said to be at least 12,000

CBS News cited Iranian sources saying up to 20,000 may have been killed, though only some 2,500 have been confirmed by the U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency. Israel and Arab states have reportedly advised Washington that the regime is not weakened enough for a military strike to be decisive.

Jan. 14, 2026 / JNS)

More than 12,000 people are feared dead in Iran after a sweeping crackdown on anti-regime protests, with CBS News reporting on Tuesday that sources inside and outside the country believe the toll could be as high as 20,000 and newly verified video showing hundreds of bodies stacked at a morgue near Tehran.

The outlet said the true scope of the bloodshed has been obscured by a near-total shutdown of internet and phone service imposed by Iran’s rulers over the past five days, with only limited outgoing calls allowing word of the killings to leak out.

Activist networks citing medical sources around the country told the network they now believe the death toll stands at a minimum of 12,000 and could reach 20,000, even as an unnamed Iranian official told Reuterssome 2,000 people had been killed since the unrest erupted Dec. 28.

The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency said on Tuesday that it has confirmed 2,403 protester deaths, and that 18,434 people have been detained. HRANA also said that 1,134 people with severe injuries have been reported. jns.org

Serious conditions in Iran. I don’t envy President Trump and the administration, but what the sane world has hoped for may be about to come to fruition. What happens next? IMO strikes must happen soon to stop the carnage. Rh

Pro-Family Coalition Urges Executive Order To Protect Religious Freedom Of Christian Parents

A pro-family, pro-child coalition urged the Trump administration this week to issue an executive order protecting parental rights and the religious freedom of Christian parents and foster parents.

The proposed order, which the coalition workshopped with the White House Domestic Policy Council on Wednesday, would:

  • Explicitly affirm parents’ constitutional right to raise their children according to their religious beliefs.
  • Repeal federal foster care rules preventing or obstructing people who affirm biological sex from becoming foster parents.
  • Prohibit organizations from using federal funds to remove children from parents who do not affirm same-sex attraction or sexual identity confusion.
  • Remove federal funding from organizations which help children conceal sexual identity confusion from their parents.

These four recommendations would prevent federal and state governments from unconstitutionally withholding adoption and foster care licenses from Christians or taking children with sexual identity confusion away from loving, Christian parents.

States like Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont, Oregon, Washington and Californiarequire prospective foster parents to affirm a child’s same-sex attraction and sexual identity confusion.

In 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services released regulations giving progressive, “gender affirming” foster care placement organizations privileged status over biology-affirming ones.

Policies like these prevent people like Jessica BatesBryan and Rebecca GanttBrian and Katy Wuoti and Mike and Kitty Burkes from fostering or adopting some of the estimated 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system.

Parents in many states can also lose custody of their children for failure to affirm their same-sex attraction or sexual identity confusion.

The Indiana Department of Child Services took custody of Mary and Jeremy Cox’s 16-year-old son after the couple refused to affirm his “transgender identity.” A court eventually found the Cox’s had not abused their son — but the state never gave him back.

He remained in the department’s care to receive treatment for an eating disorder which had worsened while he was away from home.

The Coxes are just one of innumerable heartbreaking examples of state agencies taking children from loving parents who affirm biological. Erin Friday, one of the coalition leaders who met with the White House on Wednesday, says the number of families in this situation far exceeds most people’s expectations.

“The public is unaware that children are being kidnapped by child protective services and family judges because these cases are usually sealed or there are confidentiality laws that prevent parents from going public,” she told The Daily Signal.

Christian parents need not have their child taken to suffer under child protective agencies’ scrutiny.

Erin Lee received an unexpected visit from the Colorado Department of Human Services after she tried to hold her daughter’s public school accountable for secretly teaching gender ideology.

“We managed to evade losing our children that day, but I’ve met many parents who weren’t so lucky,” Lee, who eventually saved her daughter from damaging sexual identity confusion, told the Daily Wire.

She continued: “I also had a six-year-old and an infant at the time and I shudder to think that I could have lost all three of my kids for being a good parent, for being unwilling to lie to my daughter and send her down a path of self-hatred and destruction.”

Laws and policies penalizing Christian parents and prospective foster parents for questioning “gender affirming care” are increasingly ludicrous given the mounting evidence proving sex-rejecting procedures harm minors.

The Department of Health and Human Services’ own, peer-reviewed report found “transgender” medical interventions — including puberty blockers, wrong-sex hormones and surgeries — pose “significant, long term and too often ignored” harms to children.

It’s about time America’s foster care systems reflect reality.

It is time to return to Biblical and moral values in America. We were founded on religious freedom and no blue state socialists who wishes to destroy the family unit and push immorality should be allowed to do so. Protect religious freedom and pro life, Mr President. That is what I voted for and what you said you would do! Rh

Fake Conservatives

Excellent post on X by David Limbaugh, brother of the late Rush Limbaugh. This has always been my concerns as well. Please take a read. Rh

David Limbaugh

I try not to make politics personal too often (though I know I sometimes fail). But one thing that gets under my skin is people who either a) pretended to be conservative and cultivated a wide following and then dramatically changed their tune, or b) were ACTUALLY conservative and later changed — without admitting they’ve changed but instead still claim the conservative banner under which to peddle their new poison. This confuses the H out of their naive or ignorant followers and damages the conservative brand and long-respected conservative institutions.

A particularly egregious version of this is when purportedly conservative Christians now promote (overtly or subtly) antisemitism, and slander Israel – often denying their animus and saying their focus is purely based on disagreements with Israeli policies and actions. Many of these people have also adopted and advocated some utterly bizarre historical and political opinions apart from antisemitism, which causes even further confusion.

I’ll add that many of the people doing this, as part of a cynical calculation, are playing to younger audiences and those with grievances and looking for someone to blame. Common sense, tradition, and especially the Bible frown upon corrupting, confusing or leading youth astray. I could cite the Scriptures but the cynics would just say they’re not applicable to this situation – and they can believe that all they want.

So much of this has become personal. And those of us defending conservatism and standing up for the Jewish people are not the ones who have made this personal. I don’t apologize for being personally repulsed by what’s going on.

I leave open the possibility that some purveyors of this toxicity may actually be out of their minds or unwittingly under evil influences (though the latter’s hard to believe), but even if that’s the case, they deserve to be called out too. The stakes are too high. We have a country to save. We have values in which we believe and try to live by. These are strong, bright red lines we must draw.

As to those to whom any of the above applies, why don’t you just admit you have animus for Israel and/or Jews? Why don’t you admit you have become political liberals in the name of conservatism? If you’ll just come out in the open and admit who you are and what you’re about, we can fight you openly and the public can make informed choices. I happen to believe truth and decency will win in the end, but first we need to call out the deceit.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it’s the way I see much of what’s going on “inside” the conservative movement.

‘They Sponsor Terrorism’: Trump Moves to Target Muslim Group Following Startling Report by Paul Petitte – CBN News

JERUSALEM — The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic terror group so dangerous that it’s banned in Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Egypt. This year in the U.S., Texas and Florida designated the group a foreign terrorist organization. In the coming days, the Trump administration is expected to do the same.

President Donald Trump’s executive order beginning the process of designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization follows a lengthy report by the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, known as ISGAP.

The report, nearly 200 pages long, argues that the Muslim Brotherhood has spent decades advancing what it calls a “civilization jihad” aimed at undermining democratic institutions in the United States and the West.

“This is an organization that believes in murdering Jews, destroying Israel, and destroying the United States of America,” said Dr. Charles Asher Small, the founder and director of ISGAP. “This is their objective.”

Founded nearly a century ago in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood now operates across the Middle East. Hamas originated as the group’s Palestinian branch, according to the report.

In November, Small appeared alongside lawmakers and scholars to warn that the Brotherhood is “more than halfway through” what ISGAP describes as a 100-year plan to erode democratic societies from within.

“They sponsor terrorism, murder, and mayhem across the planet,” said U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee at a recent Knesset prayer event. “They are a very negative and destructive force, and it’s very important for the United States to use its power and influence to call them out for what they are.”

The ISGAP report focuses heavily on what it describes as the Brotherhood’s influence operations in the West, particularly in academia. It alleges that groups such as the Muslim Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine serve as vehicles for spreading the organization’s ideology. The report cites Students for Justice in Palestine as a major force behind violent anti-Israel protests at Columbia University.

Small pointed to the election of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York City as evidence of what he describes as long-term political penetration.
“He came out of SJP,” Small said. “He was a student activist for Students for Justice in Palestine at Bowdoin College. It’s important for your listeners to understand that SJP comes out of American Muslims for Palestine, which is a Muslim Brotherhood-backed organization.”

Trump’s executive order states that Muslim Brotherhood chapters in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt pose a threat to U.S. national security interests.

Middle East analyst Dr. Mike Evans said he urged the administration to expand the scope of the order to include Brotherhood-linked activity in Syria, Turkey and Qatar.

“The Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar funded and fueled terror — al Qaeda, the Taliban, Iran and Hamas,” Evans said. “These people hate us.”

At the state level, decisions by Texas and Florida governors to label both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations as terrorist organizations are currently being challenged in court.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott cited past convictions tied to CAIR affiliates in defending the designation. “One of the founders of the Texas branch of CAIR was sent to prison for 65 years for financing terrorism,” Abbott said. “The fact of the matter is there are people associated with CAIR who pose a serious danger.”

Under Trump’s order, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent must submit a joint report by the end of the year outlining next steps toward a formal designation.

The Muslim Brotherhood is already banned as a terrorist organization in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Syria, and Jordan. However, the ISGAP report says Brotherhood-linked organizations continue to operate freely in Turkey and Qatar, funding media outlets and political influence campaigns worldwide.

“Qatar is buying favor with the BBC, CNN, and other media outlets, including Al Jazeera, and it’s now into our political system,” Small said.

Evans said a formal U.S. designation would dramatically limit the group’s global reach. “It’s a game changer,” Evans said. “When you designate a terrorist organization, they can’t move anymore. They have no room to operate.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has praised Trump’s initiative and indicated Israel may follow with its own designation.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel warned that radical Islamist groups have been clear about their long-term goals. “We’ve seen the movements of radical jihadist groups who say very clearly that what they seek is the destruction of Western civilization as we know it today,” Haskel said.

Culture War In the West

Here is an excellent article to better understand why the globalists are working with leftist/communists to destroy America.  They should all go somewhere else and start their own country.  LOL.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/key-understanding-cult-globalisms-war-west

here are some excerpts….

The culture war in the western world is currently hitting a crescendo. At first the media said it was all “conspiracy theory” being amplified by a “fringe minority” of radical right wingers. Then, they admitted the conflict was real but claimed that conservatives were monsters trying to “dismantle democracy”. Today, the culture war has become the dominant issue of our age with the debate echoing through the halls of the White House.

Leftists hoped they could make it all go away by dismissing it. They hoped they could continue with their ideological takeover at their leisure. They failed.  The rebellion in the US is a product of decades of effort by liberty advocates and it is finally bearing fruit.

The key to understanding the globalist war on the west is first to recognize that a conspiracy of “elites” is a hard, irrefutable fact. Second, we must accept that war has been declared on us and this war is one of total conquest. We are not allowed to live separately and peacefully, our very existence is seen as a threat to the establishment. Third, globalists view western culture as antithetical to their future aims. Globalism cannot prevail as long as western ideals exist.

Finally, as noted, most of the world is against us whether they know it or not. Even old allies in Europe are becoming enemies. Import masses of third worlders into America and they don’t become American, America becomes the third world. Import millions of socialists into the US and the US becomes increasingly socialist. This is very simple to understand, but leftists (and some libertarians) refuse to acknowledge the truth.

Not all cultures are equal.  Some are better than others.  It’s fascinating how liberals continue to pretend as if different nations and cultures don’t produce tribes that are contrary to each other. We are not the same and natural coexistence is a myth.  Coexistence of such groups is created through intimidation, extortion and force.  The liberal Utopian ideal of multiculturalism requires oppressive centralization and tyranny.

Globalism is the mechanism by which total and eternal oligarchy is achieved. They use open borders, mass immigration, woke cultism, economic crisis, international conflagration, engineered pandemics, anything you can think of and more to tear their enemies down. We are their enemy. We didn’t choose this fight, they did, and they will continue changing strategies until they find one that works (or until we end their little experiment).

Doha Forum

Doha, the world capital of the Muslim Brotherhood and the ATM of Hamas, is opening this weekend its annual Terror Laundering Gala, the Doha Forum.

On stage, under crystal chandeliers

• Ahmad al Sharaa – former Al Qaeda commander who drowned Syria in blood, now scrubbed and airbrushed as “Mr President.”

• Jawad Zarif – foreign minister of Iran’s terror regime

• Hakan Fidan – Erdogan’s Islamist enforcer

All beaming for Al-Jazeera, the global megaphone of the Muslim Brotherhood.

A brief reminder of the terror money trail

• Hundreds of millions to Al Qaeda in Syria

• Hundreds of millions of dollars every year to the Taliban through Doha banks

• Qatari “charities” caught funneling money to Al Shabaab

• More than two billion dollars to Hamas

And who flies in to bless this spectacle

• Tucker Carlson – Mr. “I’m just asking questions,” the man who described Hamas jihadists as a “political party” and wondered “what is so bad about Sharia,” now arriving with his entourage to bow before Qatar’s prime minister on stage.

CNN star Christiane Amanpour and Francesca Albanese – Sunday preachers of human rights, Monday hostesses for every blood-soaked Islamist foreign minister on earth

In the end, just as in Tolkien’s epic, the real question floating above the hall is not political. It is the oldest moral test known to humanity

Can a person refuse the temptation of power, money, and prestige when they are offered in the service of evil?

In Doha, this test is not merely failed, it is celebrated!

The self-proclaimed Syrian president Ahmad Al-Shar’a told the Doha Forum that “terrorism” is often politicized, insisting that real terror is the killing of innocents – from Gaza’s alleged 60,000 victims, to the millions displaced in Syria, and the countless civilians lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It seems the perfume he received at the Oval Office didn’t work its magic. To this former Al-Qaeda commander, the rape, slaughter, and kidnapping of Israeli civilians do not qualify as terrorism. Only when Israel defends itself does he suddenly remember the word.

Syria’s ISIS terrorist President Abu Mohammed Al Julani Says the US and Israel Are The Real Terrorists, Not Him, Not Al Qaeda, and Not ISIS

During the Doha Forum yesterday, Syria’s new “president,” the former leader of al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria whose real name is Abu Mohammed Al-Julani, praised his fallen commanders and declared, “We saw wars in Afghanistan, in Iraq; all those who were killed were innocent.”

He said Al Qaeda is innocent.

He then went on to claim that the United States is the real terrorist organization in an attempt to justify that he and his group are not terrorists.

Forwarded from Amir Tsarfati.

And Saudi Arabia weighs in.

Ex-Saudi intel chief: “In my view, it is Israel now that is the troublemaker and should be reigned in…”

Asked which is a greater threat to regional stability during an onstage interview at the Milken Institute’s Middle East and Africa Summit in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Saudi Prince Turki Al Faisal responded: “For the moment, definitely it is Israel. We’ve seen that Iran has been dealt a strong hand by the US,” he said, apparently referencing Washington’s strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Prince Turki, who as a prominent member of the Saudi royal family, remains influential in Riyadh even after leaving government.

“Events in Lebanon with the diminishing of Hezbollah and the change of the regime in Syria have obviously affected Iran’s ability to affect and influence events in the broader Middle East,” he continued. “Israel is feeling its oats by bombing Syria on almost a daily basis, continuing to bomb Palestinians — whether in Gaza or the West Bank and also in Lebanon, where there’s supposed to be a ceasefire,” Prince Turki said.

“That is definitely not a harbinger of peace in our part of the world. In my view, it is Israel now that is the troublemaker and should be reigned in,” he said.

Understand why I say it does no good to make deals with treacherous regimes. They will continually move the goal posts. They are who they are and will do whatever they can get away with. Remember Qatar was funding Hamas, when asked if they would help rebuild Gaza, they said no, they (Qatar)did not destroy Gaza. No but your terror proxy was responsible. Rh

Big Brother Grid Control – From Where You Drive To What You Post

After 9-11 we imposed draconian security measures. Safety was a top priority, however it opened a Pandora’s box. We see more and more intrusion into our daily lives. Today because of past administration who open our borders and let anyone and everyone in, we have once again allowed more intrusion into private lives. Some is good, but most is not. Do we give up our rivals and ultimately freedoms, or safety?? I say no, interesting article I hope you read, link above. Be safe. Rh

Sifting Sand

Good morning friends, I hope I am not interfering with your day, but I feel a foreboding in my spirit over what has happened in the last few weeks with President Trump and some of the headlines that have dominated the news. This is not a bash fest, but a concern and call to intercession on behalf of Trump and his recent policies.  I am concerned by his mental state, flashes of anger, and profanity seems to be getting the best of him.  A call to pray for Trump!

As a supporter of Trump as we all are, his latest steps have brought the covenant of Israel in the forefront.  Why the close affiliation with Qatar, who funds Hamas with hundreds of millions of $$.  What of his push with Saudi Arabia to join the Abrahamn accords?  (they won’t join without a Palestinian state).  Abraham Accords? Worship the same God, no we don’t. Qatar and Saudi governments have a plan to invest in America to destroy us and conquer us.  They do it with $$. Funding and investing in universities to get a foothold into America. Jihad comes into America in various ways.  Why accept the new mayor of NY Mamdani into the White House? Two years ago he was Al Qaeda?  Can two walk together except they are in agreement? Amos 3:3

The visual in one week of Sunni and Shite in the White House is striking.  The spiritual connotation of handshakes, agreements and smooth words is concerning.  Where is Israel in this? Have we begun to tell them, (no settlements in Judea & Samaria) not talk with them.  Netanyahu agrees, what else can he do?  Israel is fast becoming a vassal state to us and the Islamist have become investment partners.  Money is the mother’s milk in politics.  God will have the last say. Psalms 2 God laughs at our feeble plans, He has spoken.

Again I am not bashing Trump, I am concerned in my spirit the direction we have turned.  Woe unto those who seek to divide Israel.  God will judge.

We are at the precipice of decisions that may and will affect us as a nation.  I fear Trump has been given bad advice.  I don’t blame Trump because even few Pastors understand the importance of standing with Israel and the eternal covenant with Abraham and the Jewish people.

Final note, he needs a real spiritual advisor, and he needs to listen to them.  Jack Hibbs, Tom Hughes, where are you? Intercession according to the will and purpose of God.  Rh

Epilogue : The Bible says when you see these things happening, look up for your redemption draws near.  Wars, rumors of wars, deception, earthquakes, floods in Ethiopia, Indonesian, Thailand, and dormant volcano erupting in Ethiopia, just in the last two days!  Maybe the worst is the genocide of Christians in Nigeria. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!  Maranatha

Nearly 50 Nigerian Catholic School Children Escape Extremists; Hundreds Remain Missing

So many Christians around the world are living in “constant combat,” persecuted daily for their faith in Christ. One prominent example are the Christians in Nig

This Christian persecution by the demonic forces must stop in Nigeria. Please pray and intercede for protection for these precious people. The spirit of anti-christ is rampant, even in so called western democracies. I ask you to stop what your are doing and pray when you read this. “Lord we come against this demonic spirit ruling over this nation of Nigeria and declare it must cease its efforts to kill and destroy. We bind you in the name of Jesus by your Holy Spirit, Amen!” Rh

Overshadowed by Gaza and Ukraine, Africa Plunges Deeper into War: by Suzanne Bowdey

As a Christian my heart bleeds for the suffering around the world as Christians are being persecuted and slaughtered it seems on a daily basis. We in the US are fortunate, but it could happen here. China, Nigeria, Middle East and other places our dear brothers and sisters are being martyred for the cause of Christ. May God be with them in Nigeria in particular. Rh

In the grip of constant terror, Africans have become a people of suffering, living on high alert as armed gangs spill blood from the sands of Sudan to the churches of the Congo. In Nigeria, which has gotten the lion’s share of the attention thanks to pop star Nicki Minaj’s personal crusade, men with machetes and rifles gunned down more Christians on Wednesday, turning a house of worship into a place of terror. Children’s screams rip through the air in the footage of the massacre, as the pastor and other people are rushed away to an unknown fate in a horror story that never seems to end.

Two thousand miles away in El Fasher, the city has been transformed into a “crime scene,” the United Nations warns. On the ground, humanitarian workers continue to be shocked by the harrowing scenes playing out at the hands of the Rapid Special Forces (RSF). Apart from the thousands of men, women, and children executed in cold blood, a picture of brutal sexual torture is starting to emerge from the survivors who made it to help in the refugee camp 40 miles away. One by one, they recount the barbaric rapes RSF committed in front of their families and children.

“Any woman who resisted the rape was subjected to beatings, torture, or even killed. An 11-year-old boy was beaten to death while trying to help his mother,” one told the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor. Others talked of being tied to trees while men violated them over and over again in front of their families. “One man could not afford the ransom [to leave the city], so they took his daughters and raped them.” Another mother recalled the shame and humiliation of being gang-raped in front of her 12-year-old daughter. “I feel shattered,” she cried. Even a nurse trying to treat the wounded men was taken captive and raped so many times that she fell unconscious.

U.N. officials like Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher have rushed to help the people in nearby Tawila and are at a loss for words when it comes to the suffering there. The region is “an absolute horror show,” he says in disbelief in a post from the camp on Monday. “I’ve had a week inside Darfur, which is now the epicenter of human suffering in the world,” Fletcher shakes his head. Desperate to explain the urgency of the situation, he pleads with leaders of the West to act. “We have a moment of opportunity if the world is ready to seize it. Civilians must be protected. Access must be expanded. Flow of arms must be limited,” he implores, referring to U.A.E.’s supply of deadly weapons and drones to the RSF.

“The international community has a clear duty to act,” U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNCHR) Volker Turk urged on Friday. Meanwhile, the slaughter marches east at an alarming pace, local groups warn, as the paramilitary group starts to invade Kordofan, launching rockets, air strikes, and mobilizing more ground forces. “Residents have been besieged in the towns of Babanousa, Dilling, and Kadugli ‘with access to food, water, and health services rapidly deteriorating,’” UNCHR reiterated in an update. Any hopes of security for the local population are “rapidly deteriorating,” before reporting that the civilian casualties “are particularly high in Bara, Babanousa, Ghubeish, and Umm Krediem…”

NBC cautioned earlier this month that the RSF is already “shifting its focus eastward after consolidating its grip over Darfur last month, reigniting violence and launching drone attacks across the country’s oil-producing southern areas.” Like El Fasher, where the roving troops mowed down locals, running over the ones who ran with their trucks, the people in Bara are being fired on indiscriminately. Innocents are rounded up and shot in rows, eyewitnesses say. “Mohamed said that when RSF troops arrived at his house, he could hear his father fighting back and being fatally shot outside the door. … He left the city on foot, hiding from fighters and vehicles,” he testified. “Another man, Ismail, described hiding inside a house as men were shot in the street, until he was able to pay a fighter to escort him and his family out of the city.” Across the east, “Witnesses and sources have reported signs of a broader military build-up.”

Fortunately, the bloodshed has caught the attention of the Trump administration, where Secretary of State Marco Rubio is working frantically behind the scenes to negotiate a ceasefire. Like most Sudan experts, Kholood Khair, founding director of the Confluence Advisory, insists that the RSF’s crimes meet “all the legal and political criteria for genocide.” In a wide-ranging interview about how Sudan devolved into a “humanitarian catastrophe” with The New Yorker’s Isaac Chotiner Tuesday, Khair argues that what’s happening in the country now is “far, far worse” than what happened in Darfur 20 years ago.

“Sudan’s a very racist country. Let me say that from the outset. The reason that we have had so many wars in Sudan that are all based on ethnicity is because the Sudanese state has never created a common Sudanese national identity. But now civilians are being forced into choosing a side simply out of survival. And that is what’s going to make it very difficult, even if there is a ceasefire at some point, to create coexistence in communities.”

As for the U.A.E.’s involvement, Khair isn’t optimistic that the Arab nation will walk away from its investment in RSF quite so easily. The Arab nation “needs Sudan itself. Sudan is the holy grail for the U.A.E. in many ways. It has flat arable land. The U.A.E. does not have much farmland. Sudan is one of Africa’s largest producers of gold. The U.A.E. has become a hub for gold globally. Sudan has a long Red Sea coastline. It’s an entry point from the Red Sea to the rest of Africa. The U.A.E. has been even outspending China in the Horn and in the east of Africa. I think the U.A.E. sees Sudan as the gateway to Africa, and it sees Africa as the gateway to its financial domination as it’s looking to move beyond oil.”

But the funneling of high-tech drones, rockets, and weapons to a bloodthirsty RSF bent on raping and murdering its way through Africa must stop. In an interesting twist, President Donald Trump said this week that his visit with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has persuaded him to use his influence to stop the killing in Sudan. “It was not on my charts to be involved in that,” the president admitted. But, he recounted, “Working with the crown prince was amazing because he said, ‘Sir, you’re talking about a lot of wars, but there’s a place on Earth called Sudan, and it’s horrible what’s happening.’ We’re working on that,” the president insisted. ‘… I view it differently now than I did just a day ago.”

Even in places where the Trump administration has been successful in negotiating an end to civil war, like the blockbuster peace deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Christians are still targets. Just last week, Islamist militants from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) stormed a health center run by Catholic nuns and shot 15 people before setting fire to the clinic, killing several moms in the maternity ward.

“Before destroying everything, they looted all the medical supplies — I believe that was their main objective,” Father Giovanni Piumatti recounted. “Panic spread everywhere. The army pursued them, but despite its efforts, the terrorists escaped. They seem to be better armed and equipped than the regular forces.” He paused before describing the harrowing scene.

“What is most tragic — beyond the sheer number of innocent victims — is the way they kill,” he said somberly. “They slit civilians’ throats, decapitate them — it’s horrific. Here they killed mothers as they were breastfeeding their babies. These massacres are beyond imagination, and they happen almost every week. Many go unreported.”

On Sunday, Pope Leo XIV called on the world to intervene. “While I entrust the victims to God’s loving mercy, I pray for the wounded and for Christians around the world who continue to suffer violence and persecution. I urge those with responsibilities at both local and international levels to work together to prevent such tragedies.”

That’s the hope of MEMRI, an organization that’s been tracking the escalating violence across the continent. In a new report called “Not Just Nigeria,” it documents the scale of the trauma in Africa. (Warning: the research includes several graphic photographs.) “Not a day goes by without the MEMRI JTTM team documenting jihadi reports of attacks on African Christians. Yet this ongoing terror and slaughter of Christians outside the West has largely gone unnoticed, with little to no action from those who have the power to speak out or intervene.”

They want people to know that a “typical day” for Christians in Africa often includes “being forced to pay the jizyah poll tax imposed on non-Muslims living under Islamic rule, facing a choice between conversion to Islam or death, witnessing their churches destroyed and villages burned, and seeing their priests and nuns beheaded or otherwise murdered. While most of these attacks are carried out by ISIS affiliates, others are perpetrated by Al-Qaeda and its supporters in the region, or by Islamist Fulani militias that continue to target Christian communities.”

The reality is, Africa has entered “a new era of war,” The Wall Street Journal laments. In a shocking statistic, the continent is now experiencing a “corridor of conflict” that stretches across 4,000 miles and spans 16 of the 54 countries. “In its wake lies incalculable human suffering — mass displacement, atrocities against civilians and extreme hunger — on a continent that is already by far the poorest on the planet.” The trail it has carved is one of “death and destruction “across the breadth of Africa — from Mali near the continent’s western edge all the way to Somalia on its eastern Horn.”

And sadly, WSJ notes, “Africa’s current conflicts haven’t prompted the outpouring of sympathy in the West that accompanied Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or the outrage ignited by Israel’s war in Gaza. … That lack of popular attention has translated into a dearth of political action to resolve wars in Africa or alleviate the suffering.”

For the nightmare to end, America’s voice must be louder and clearer than ever before. “Please,” one aid worker pleaded, “we are dying before the eyes of the whole world and no one is speaking up.” Suzanne Bowdey serves as editorial director and senior writer at The Washington Stand.
