- Every prophecy fulfilled
- Passover Lamb slain
- Darkness at mid afternoon
- Temple curtain split from top to bottom
- A hurried burial in a borrowed tomb
The disciples were scared, confused and uncertain of what would happen next. All in hiding, waiting, hoping, praying…..
- A quick visit to the gravesite…where is He, was his body stolen?
“Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb while it was still dark and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she came running to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him.” So Peter came out with the other disciple and they went toward the tomb. They both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. Stooping down and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying there. Yet he did not enter. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went inside the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the cloth that was around His head, not lying with the other linen cloths, but wrapped in a place by itself.”
John 20:1-7 MEV
If that same Spirit…….
It is the folded cloth neatly placed by itself that tells the rest of the story. Tradition tells us when a King or prominent person gets up from the table after a meal, if they plan on returning, they neatly fold the napkin and place it beside their plates. This act signifies that the person will return and to leave all the dishes and the cups on the table.
Jesus was giving us a prophetic look into the future that the Apostle Paul would lay out in detail in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
If that same Spirit….. “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Romans 8:11 NKJV
Our hope is in what is referred to as the “blessed hope”. Jesus signified He was coming back! Praise God! Whether we go by the grave or we are translated and fly away in the Rapture, either way we shall be with Him forever.
