Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Iran

Rubio was on Fox talking about NATO, state of the war and mostly Iran.

“This is a regime led by people who believe it is their calling and their purpose in life to usher in the end of the world.

Araghchi is a liar.

This guy was on television… denying that Iran had any missiles beyond a certain range — and then they fired two of them.

They were aiming to become the next North Korea — not a North Korea run by a regime that is troublesome and hard to understand, but an Iran run by radical Shia clerics with intercontinental missiles.

We can see the finish line. It’s not today or tomorrow, but it’s coming”.

This is interesting and a conversation worth having.

Secretary Rubio says “since NATO isn’t allowing the U.S. to use their bases then we have to ask, “Why are we in NATO?”

Rubio says the U.S. is “going to have to reexamine the value of NATO and that alliance for our country.”

IMO the elites thought they were on their way to a new world order just a couple of years ago.  Not sure this is what they had in mind.  Europe devastated and worthless, Europe-lite (Canada) worthless and a new Middle East without Iran as the bully with no teeth.  Rubio is the rock star of this administration, and worthy of my apologies over concern about him.  After living in Florida for 10 years, I never thought thought he was like this.  Some people rise to the occasion, Rubio is acting Presidential, with strength but with some tact which is much needed in the White House.  At the present time he is my pick and favorite to continue the freedom march the U.S. has begun under Trump.  America is back, baby!  Rh

Tonight at 9 p.m. ET, Donald Trump is set to deliver an “important update on Iran.” At 4 a.m. Israel time, most Israelis, including the leadership, will be away from their phones, either asleep or still celebrating the first night of Passover. When they eventually wake or finish the Passover meal and check their updates, I am certain they will not be blindsided by the announcement.

Most likely, Trump announces that despite the great victories already achieved, more is required to finish off the Islamic Republic. He confirms that he is still open to a diplomatic settlement, but nothing has manifested so far, and critical infrastructure remains a target. If so, that would suggest he is sticking to the original plan: another two to three weeks of strikes before transitioning to the protest phase.

Least likely, he announces a unilateral end to the war. The uranium is yet to be retrieved or more deeply buried beneath Isfahan; Kharg is still in Iranian hands, and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Any one of these facts would cast a shadow on Trump’s declaration of victory; all three make victory difficult to make out. Yet even if Trump chooses to declare victory regardless, Israel more broadly would be surprised, but the leadership would not. As a senior intelligence source told me last week, Israel is prepared for this outcome and still believes it can pull out a win if U.S. forces remain in the region during the protest phase.

Part of his speech will certainly be devoted to calming oil markets. Trump’s rhetoric may have a chaotic tone, but there is a clear rhythm to his comments, balancing between explosive threats and assurances that the war is almost over. So far, he has succeeded. If I had asked an expert at the outset of the war what prices would look like if barely any oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz for almost a month, $100 would be far from the estimate. Since markets are open for two more days, I would imagine Trump’s dovish side will be present tonight.

After 33 days of the closest cooperation in the histories of both countries, I think we can say with confidence that no matter how the media reacts to Trump’s comments tonight, Israel will not be surprised.

Updates and Analysis: MAGA – Iran- Hormuz

Hormuz must be stabilized to keep the objectives of this military action on track. Extremely high gas prices are most likely the only thing that will derail final and completed objectives. Tucker Carlson’s Failure — Trump’s Knockout

Various interesting polls point to a clear trend:

A. There is no “split” within the MAGA camp — on the contrary, there is an almost Soviet-level consensus around Trump and his decision to strike Iran.

B. The war in Iran is not hurting Republicans ahead of the midterm elections — it is actually strengthening them.

Here are the data (to be detailed in follow-up posts):

1. NBC poll: One hundred percent support among MAGA supporters for Trump. Yes — 100%. This figure was also echoed by CNN.

In other words, two networks highly hostile to Trump present a president who has complete control over his base.

The share of people identifying with MAGA has also grown since the election.

2. Republican poll (New York Post): Who do you identify with — Trump or Carlson and Megyn Kelly?

The result is decisive: Trump 84%, Carlson and Kelly 6%.

It turns out that clicks and Spotify listens do not necessarily translate into real influence among the public.

Ironically, a phenomenon similar to traditional media in recent years is emerging: a loud and vocal minority holds the microphone and claims to speak for a silent majority that actually rejects it.

This frustration is causing Tucker and his circle to lose composure and drift away from the MAGA “mothership” toward the more fringe territories of the far left and pro-jihadist narratives.

The current investigation into Kent’s leaks to Carlson may become the official break between Carlson and the Republican Party.

3. YouGov–Economist poll on the November midterms (the most important issue in U.S. politics):

Since the start of the war, Republicans have narrowed the gap with Democrats in the race for control of the House — from a 7-point Democratic lead in mid-February to just 2 points in mid-March.

Earlier this month, I referenced a Harvard/Harris poll conducted before the war that showed a tie.

Democrats still lead in betting markets and most polls, but the trend is favorable for Republicans.

As noted recently, Republicans have only upside potential — historically, since World War II, only once has a second-term president managed to keep his party’s majority in the House (Clinton and the Democrats in 1998).

If Trump becomes the second, it would be a phenomenal achievement for him and the Republican Party.

4. Finally (not a poll): The major unknown is Vice President J.D. Vance, who is closely tied to Carlson and issued a very lukewarm statement regarding Kent’s resignation.

His public profile during the current war with Iran has been relatively low, and it is not at all certain that he supports the campaign.

Recently, he has lost some ground in the (so far quiet) race between him and Marco Rubio to become Trump’s successor for 2028.

It is far too early to write off Vance’s chances of becoming the Republican nominee in two and a half years, but his political trajectory will likely indicate the direction the Republican Party will take in the coming years.

Vance is the big loser for now, I just don’t trust him. He came late to the MAGA party. First time he voted republican was for himself in the Ohio senate race. Seems to be a carpetbagger and far too close to the woke right and the Anti-Israel sentiment. Rh

Final thought, Europe may be the big loser, not supporting the US when they are far more dependent on oil than us. Typical, we save them and they turn their backs on us. Open borders and government overreach has defeated the once great British Empire, they should change their symbol from the lion to a kitty. France is just France, as long as they have their mistresses and their over priced wine, they are good. Rh

Ties That Bind: US & Israel

Long but interesting article from a journalist inside Israel that I have found and enjoy his take, maybe a fresh take on what is going on in the Middle East. Different perspectives are good. I fully agree that Europe has fallen and will never be the partner that we need. Islamification has happened to the continent. Rh

Israel will emerge from this war safer and more prosperous.

After the war – the United States and its military are expected to recalculate course regarding regional countries that disappointed them.

The joint U.S.-Israeli crushing of the greatest threat to Israel and the region continues with intensity and is progressing ahead of schedule. In any case – by the end of it – Iran will remain weakened and bleeding. The United States will also maintain control over the region’s energy resources.

At present – the U.S. is biting its lip over the disappointment from many countries and is relying on a surprisingly positive ally – Israel. But on the day after the war – Washington will reassess its relationship with a long list of countries that have let it down.

In this campaign – the U.S. has been forced to build an alternative and very costly military deployment instead of the one it had planned for a quarter century. Ironically – Israel – which was not part of the original plan – has become the primary forward operating base in the region.

For 25 years – the United States built its Middle East force posture for a regional conflict scenario. It relied on regional states and largely bypassed Israel.

Frontline states – the “fortunate winners” – included Turkey, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain – where forward bases were established with intervention forces, command-and-control centers, and logistics infrastructure. Israel was not counted.

In the second tier were European and NATO countries – with bases in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Romania, and further out in the United Kingdom.

In this campaign – however – most U.S. regional allies have refused to allow offensive operations from their territory – fearing Iranian retaliation the day after – and some are already being targeted by Iran. Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and NATO countries are providing only minimal logistical support – while prohibiting the launch or transit of bombers through their territory.

As a result – the U.S. has had to develop an alternative plan based on aircraft carriers, aerial refueling stations, and one country that has become the central forward base – Israel – with its relatively small airfields: Ben Gurion and Ovda.

On the day after the war – the U.S. will evaluate whether it still needs the massive CENTCOM base in Qatar – how much it can rely on its Gulf allies – and especially whether Turkey can truly be considered a military ally.

This costly deployment has also forced the U.S. to take into account the policies and positions of those countries – for example regarding Gaza and Lebanon – while those same countries maintained “dual loyalty” – cooperating both with the U.S. and with the axis of evil: Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah – as well as with other U.S. rivals such as China and Russia.

Israel is expected to replace them as the primary forward military hub for the United States in safeguarding Middle Eastern energy resources – not to mention the deepening of cooperation in training, development, and military research between the two countries.

Israel is set to become the preferred partner of the world’s most powerful nation – which currently accounts for 42% of global arms sales.

The implication is clear – Israel will become both safer and more prosperous as a result of this war.

United States Military Might

As a member of the Republican Party, more out of the lesser of two evils, I believe in America first.  Up to a point.  I am a Christian conservative who understands that in this world America can’t just stick its head in the sand.  We need a powerful military and we also need to put our finger on the scales of injustice.  I support military action against Iran.  Western democracies and Jimmy Carter in his weakness allowed the radicals to come to power.  Each succeeding President, with exception of Reagan, who had other fish to fry, were also responsible.  

Iran has a large Christian community inside the country, and this uprising was a call for freedom and self determination. President Trump encouraged the demonstrations and now it’s time to act.  I expect it will go as well as the quick intervention in Venezuela.  The world needs a strong hand and a determined vision, whether we like it or not we are the conscience of the world.

The showdown with Iran is not only about Tehran.

It is a live demonstration.

The massive force buildup – carrier strike groups – bomber rotations – layered missile defenses – sustained logistics air bridges – all serve a broader purpose.

Iran is the operational arena.

China is the strategic audience.

Beijing is watching:

   •   How fast the U.S. can mass power

   •   How long it can sustain deployments

   •   Whether alliances hold under pressure

   •   Whether it can operate in multiple theaters simultaneously

This is deterrence by demonstration.

If Washington can project overwhelming force in the Middle East while maintaining Indo-Pacific readiness, it reinforces American dominance in the 21st century.

The message is not rhetorical. It is kinetic.

Witkoff on Iran: The president is curious as to why — I don’t want to use the word capitulated but why they haven’t capitulated. Why under this pressure with the amount of naval power over there, why they haven’t come to us and said we profess we don’t want a weapon…

C’mon Trump, sending what amounts to a used car salesman to broker peace with the most devious and strategic outlaw country in the Middle East?  What ya thinking man.  Please explain how anyone can expect anything good to come from this so called “negotiations”.  When you go into talks with Iran telling everyone who will listen that they will not stop nuclear enrichment and will not do away with their missiles, then we can expect no deal.  At least not one that Trump himself has said must include both.  

Iranians are master negotiators, they understand the gullibility of the western diplomats and politicians.  Iran always plays the delay and waiting game.  They are content to live to fight another day, whereas the western mindset is to accomplish today for their campaign sound bite.  

It has been somewhere around 9 weeks since Trump made his famous, “help is on the way,” declaration.  Sad to say we need to either make the regime change, which is the only way to bring some stability to the region, or make a bad deal and walk away.  Note to America First disciples, who want a hands off approach to all things outside our borders, if we do that I can almost guarantee a regional war in the next few months.  Bad deals can’t be enforced and we have tried that scenario many times.  Over and over again!

Iran has struck a deal with Russia to purchase thousands of shoulder-launched air defense missiles in exchange for half a billion euros. (Per Financial Times) 

Speaking of hard to enforce deals, Gaza is a good example, and brokered by Witkoff.

“Our position on international forces is clear: we want peacekeeping forces that monitor the ceasefire, ensure its implementation, and act as a buffer between the occupation army and our people in the Gaza Strip, without interfering in Gaza’s internal affairs,” Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem told AFP.

Hamas and Israel have continued to trade attacks along the Strip despite the tenuous cease-fire, with the terror group committing daily violations of the truce…

“We see them test our troops. We see them carrying out attacks every week … [Hamas] has injured and killed soldiers since the ceasefire began,” IDF Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani told The Post. New York Post

A Message from Amir Tsarfati: my humble opinion, Special Envoy Witkoff caused significant damage to the war effort by telling Fox News that the President is kind of frustrated and even surprised that the Iranians are not capitulating.

Those words echoed loudly across the Middle East – and they were received as a signal of weakness and ignorance.

Weakness – because a massive military buildup impresses no one if there is no clear willingness to use it.

Ignorance – because this regime will never surrender its “insurance policy” – namely its nuclear program, its ballistic missile arsenal, and its regional proxies – if it believes the ultimate objective is to topple it anyway.

Right now, many in the region view President Trump as someone who may have miscalculated the situation – projecting a “Maduro effect” onto Iran as though the two cases are comparable. They are not.

In my opinion, the President must now be firm – and if a strike is required, it must be decisive and unmistakable.

It must be carried out in such a way that every enemy of the United States understands clearly – America does not posture – it acts.

Deterrence in this region is not built on rhetoric – it is built on demonstrated resolve.

If the objective is to prevent a wider war and restore credibility, then the message must be unmistakable – do not test the United States.

During a conversation between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, bin Salman emphasized that Saudi Arabia will not allow the use of its territory and airspace for military actions against Iran.

The front page of the conservative Iranian newspaper Al-Mashari today was devoted to threats against the United States and Israel:

“Trump and Netanyahu will be put on trial and punished. This is Iran – a mistake will be met with a response.”

The headline further stated:

“No American soldier in the region will be safe. Dozens of American bases in the region will be Iran’s first targets. Iran’s missiles will crush the infrastructure of the occupied territories. The Iranian Navy will sink U.S. warships. Israel’s military bases, as in the 12-day war, are within the range of our missiles.”

 The rumors of the failed coup in China:

Out of the 7 members in the Central Military Commission in China, the supreme body responsible for building and deploying military power, 2 remain who have not been arrested or disappeared.

A network of more than 80 doctors in 12 provinces in Iran estimates that the number of deaths in the clashes surrounding the protests in Iran is higher than 30,000. According to the report, the estimate is based on the conclusion that the deaths officially recorded as related to the suppression of the protest likely represent less than 10% of the actual number of deaths.

The Allure Of Peace

The allure of peace in the Middle East has caused many politicians to take sides, most of the time they’re on the wrong side of history.  Diplomacy as the western governments know it will never work in the Middle East. As a pastor and Bible teacher, I firmly stand on the inerrancy of the word of God. It tells me that there will never be true peace in the Middle East until the prince of peace makes his appearance. And that my friends, is many battles and much pain and sorrow away from happening.

What started off as a grandiose design by President Trump hailed as the beginning of the golden age, has moved from our shores to the world stage. Now we see the Trump administration mired in the same quagmire that has hit every US president since the Arab all embargo in the 70s.

What to do about Israel, the Arabs, and now the radical Islamic Jihadist. Trump is fond of talking about peace through strength. That truly is all the radical terrorists and anarchists in the Middle East understand. They have lived through tribal wars, ancient rivalries, and also ancient hatred of one another. Ancient rivalries infused with blood oaths as well. It’s inbreed. 

If one understands the Bible prophecy, we understand it will be a great shaking and falling away from the Christian faith. We also understand that Jerusalem will be a problem to all the nations of the world. “Zechariah12:2” There is a division happening right now of nations being sifted and taking side for and against Israel. 

We also understand some sort of world, religion, and world government will take authority over the entirety of the world. We see this played out in revelation 13. Our technology and surveillance systems have made it possible that every person on the face of the Earth can be tracked and their whereabouts, spending habits and even what they are writing and saying on social media can be tracked. And to think when we were booting those computers up every morning on dial up that it would come to something like this.

My opinion is that Trump and those around him have absolutely no clue to what they’re doing, so scratch off the typical left-wing lunatics who think that Trump is the antichrist. I don’t see how it could be. Is it possible, of course anything is possible. God is in control and he is sovereign. But I do believe that the Trump administration with their focus on peace in the Middle East and with his grandiose board of peace, which smacks of a New World order, which is exactly what Trump has been railing against. Funny how that works isn’t it?

The apparatus for the soon to be declared antichrist, the man of sin, the one who will step in and declare that he has the keys and the ability to make peace is now here. I do believe the steps that are being taken today, the push for the 

The AI revolution is a part of the foreshadowing that will come right before the antichrist is revealed.

Bible prophecy tells us the time is not right for the antichrist to appear at this present moment. In fact, I believe there are two events that will happen before this, revealing. The rapture of the church which I believe is a pre-tribulation rapture of the saints of God taken out of this world by the Blessed hope that they have in Christ Jesus. Also believe that shortly after that because of that chaos Ezekiel 38 a contingency of nations which primarily include Russia, Turkey, and Iran will lead an attack against the nation of Israel. This attack will happen at a time of peace and safety, as the Bible declares. When will that be, and what is the true definition of peace and safety, no one really knows.

Let’s get back to this board of peace. I believe it’s a for runner, I believe it is man’s way of trying to put money and dollars and investments, and bring about prosperity and peace in the Middle East. Which has been tried before, which has been bandied about as the solution. Remember, when Obama said if these Islamist just had a good job, they would lay down their arms? They’re not laying down their arms. They’re going to fight to the death because that’s who they are, that’s what they do and that’s who controls them, the spirit of death and destruction. Rh

Here too we see the prophetic outlines. The full isolation of Israel, globally, is one of the linchpins of Bible prophecy in the very end times. I will say this: while Trump has done many good things, and seems to have genuine love for America, it also appears that he does not have a real biblical worldview. He has recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, but his team is full of Arabists that have been in Washington for a century. They will not allow full Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.

The recent opportunities to decapitate Tehran, Beirut, and the Gaza Strip have come and gone, it appears. This will cost many more lives down the road.

But if we do hold to those marvelous predictions the Lord provided for us in His Word, we should not expect/count on real peace to break out. That is not His plan.

This Board of Peace will not be that. Instead, it is a bizarre and puzzling self-inflicted wound. It is like a child running toward danger, rather than fleeing it. Hard to believe so many smart people can be so wrong about building blocks for peace, at least short-term. Can you imagine what the world would have been like if the Ayatollah and his demon horde had been overthrown? At the very least, many lives internationally would have been saved from this terror nest.

We trust our Lord, though. And we wait.

Trump Launches Board of Peace at Davos

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday launched his Board of Peace at a ceremony on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, attended by representatives of at least 18 nations.

Leaders and representatives from Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan were among those on stage as Trump spoke during the signing ceremony, The Guardian reported. www.watch.org

Trump Announces Artic Deal Framework

U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday evening that he has developed “a framework for a future agreement” regarding Greenland and the wider Arctic region, following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Will Trump’s approach to regime change in Iran resemble the Venezuela model – Ali Khamenei out, but another, more “moderate” ayatollah in?

Is this simply a way for the Iranians to buy time until Trump leaves office?

One thing is clear:

• The Bible is far more accurate than today’s newspapers.

Biblically:

• Persia (Iran) will join a coalition against Israel.

When I hear promises of support for the brave Iranian protesters, I feel deep sadness.

• I know in my heart that none of Trump’s closest advisers are capable of thinking beyond the business dimension.

• If a negotiated deal can buy time and prevent market disruption, the ayatollah regime will remain in power.

The same applies to Hamas.

• Do we really believe it will agree to be dismantled?

• Do we really believe Hezbollah will?

The Middle East is not a business venture like Venezuela.

• It is a region drenched in extreme religious ideology.

• Time and again, it has proven that financial gain and prosperity are no match for the “honor” its adherents believe they attain by leaving this world as martyrs.

Israel had better be prepared for the day it will stand alone, facing the most massive attack – from the north.

The Witkoffs and the Kushners will not be there to help.

IMO here is a great cross section of things that interest me and also have prophetic implications.  We are living in perilous times, as well as “Prophetic Times.” Not to mention the ongoing saga in Gaza, that I foresee as having no real solution until Hamas has been defeated completely.  Compromise and peace deals do not work with the Jihadist, including the evil that is the remine in Iran.  Thousands have been slaughtered in Iran, it is time to act or sit down and shut up. – Physical facts – a giant of ice

Greenland is the largest island on Earth, covering about 2.1 million square kilometers – roughly 100 times the size of Israel.

Only about 20% of the island is exposed – the rest is buried beneath a massive ice sheet.

Despite its immense size, Greenland is home to only about 56,000 people – making it one of the least populated places on the planet.

Formally, Greenland is a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark.

Denmark is responsible for foreign affairs and defense and provides annual subsidies that constitute a significant portion of the local budget.

Since 2009, aspirations for full independence have grown, with local parties pointing to 2030 as a target year.

Greenland’s true value lies in its geography.

It sits at the meeting point between the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean.

Geologically, Greenland belongs to North America.

Control of Greenland means control over access to the northern part of the continent.

Greenland forms the central leg of the Greenland–Iceland–UK gap.

This is the critical maritime corridor through which the Russian navy must pass to move from the Arctic into the Atlantic.

For decades, Greenland was viewed as a frozen wasteland of limited importance.

Global warming is now melting the ice and exposing two strategic opportunities – dramatically shorter maritime trade routes and access to rare natural resources that were previously unreachable.

President Donald Trump has once again jolted the foreign-policy establishment—this time by elevating Greenland from a quiet Arctic outpost into a front-line strategic priority. What many initially dismissed as rhetorical bravado has evolved into a serious geopolitical argument rooted in national security, great-power competition, and resource control.

From Trump’s perspective, Greenland is not about symbolism. It is about leverage.

Greenland’s value begins with geography. Sitting between North America and Europe, the island occupies a commanding position over the Arctic and North Atlantic. The United States already operates Thule Air Base there, a critical node in America’s missile-warning and space-tracking systems.

Trump’s view is blunt: if the United States does not secure Greenland’s future alignment, adversaries will try to exploit it.

New shipping lanes, surveillance routes, and military corridors are opening—routes Russia and China are actively studying. In Trump’s strategic calculus, Greenland is not peripheral; it is central.

Trump frames Greenland as an extension of homeland defense. Ballistic missile trajectories from Eurasia pass over the Arctic. Early-warning systems stationed in Greenland give the U.S. precious minutes in a crisis.

Beyond security, Greenland holds vast deposits of rare earth elements and critical minerals essential for defense systems, electronics, and emerging technologies. Trump views Greenland as part of a broader effort to reduce Western dependence on Chinese-controlled supply chains.

European leaders, particularly Denmark, reject any notion of a transfer of sovereignty, emphasizing Greenlandic self-determination and NATO cooperation. Many U.S. lawmakers also warn that aggressive rhetoric could strain alliances.

Trump’s Greenland strategy reflects a larger truth about his presidency: he thinks in maps, not communiqués. Territory, resources, and positioning matter more to him than diplomatic sensibilities.

Whether Greenland ever changes hands is uncertain. What is clear is that Trump has forced Washington and its allies to confront the Arctic as a serious arena of global competition.  Interestingly China, and Russia have been doing what is called bathymetric surveys.

A bathymetric survey measures and maps the depths and underwater terrain (seafloor, riverbed, lakebed) of water bodies, creating a detailed picture of the submerged landscape with contours and elevations, similar to how land surveys map dry ground. This data is crucial for navigation, flood control, engineering, and environmental studies, using technologies like sonar, GPS, and sometimes drones to capture precise depth and location data.  

What it measures: 

  • Water Depth: Precise measurements from the surface to the bottom. 
  • Underwater Features: Maps features like ridges, canyons, reefs, and man-made structures. 
  • Terrain: Creates contour lines (isobaths) showing the shape and slope of the bottom. 
  • Water Properties: Can include shoreline definition, currents, and wave action. 

My take is simple, it is strategic for the U.S.  What began as a strange comment by Trump on the purchase has now blown into a big “deal”.  No pun intended.  Not sure what will happen, but probably some sort of agreement to increase American forces, and or security.  There is no secret, at least from me, that the European Union can’t be trusted to hold up it’s end of NATO.  At times Trump seems to talk when he shouldn’t, but sometimes he is setting the stage for something bigger.  Rh
