Chase Bank Cancels Nonprofit’s Bank Account: ‘Religious Freedom Is Under Attack by Corporate America’

A former United States ambassador for religious freedom says Chase Bank abruptly closed an account associated with his nonpartisan, faith-based nonprofit organization with little explanation.

The National Committee for Religious Freedom (NCRF), a 501(c)4 political action nonprofit, opened an account with Chase in April.

According to Sam Brownback, the group’s chairman and the former U.S. ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom under the Trump administration, the bank decided to “end their relationship” with NCRF and close the account after only three weeks.

“We were surprised at being canceled by Chase,” Brownback wrote in an op-ed published in the Washington Examiner. When our executive director called to see if this was an error, he was informed that ‘a note in the file read that Chase employees were not permitted to provide any further clarifying information to the customer.'”

If you cherish faith, family and freedom, you might want to keep a low profile for a while.  The Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2021 has been unveiled in Congress, and it has bipartisan support.  It is essentially “the Patriot Act on steroids”, and we are being told that it is almost certain that some version of the legislation will make it to Biden’s desk for him to sign.

Personally, I am very much against all forms of domestic terrorism, and a law which could help to prevent terror attacks from happening is going to sound like a good thing to a lot of people.

Unfortunately, it appears that this bill is meant to specifically target certain groups, and as you read this article you may discover that you are a member of one or more of those groups.

Those that drafted this new law say that it will help authorities go after “extremists”, and very few of us would consider ourselves to be one of those.

But the definition of an extremist has changed.  Tulsi Gabbard is one of the most prominent Democrats in the House of Representatives, and last year she ran for president.  But even though she is a Democrat, she is warning that this new law appears to be “a targeting of almost half of the country”…

“What characteristics are we looking for as we are building this profile of a potential extremist, what are we talking about? Religious extremists, are we talking about Christians, evangelical Christians, what is a religious extremist? Is it somebody who is pro-life? Where do you take this?” Gabbard said. She said the proposed legislation could create “a very dangerous undermining of our civil liberties, our freedoms in our Constitution, and a targeting of almost half of the country.”

It is fundamentally un-American to specifically target people for their religious beliefs, and so that is extremely alarming.
Gabbard is also warning that people with certain political perspectives are likely to be targeted as well…
“You start looking at obviously, have to be a white person, obviously likely male, libertarians, anyone who loves freedom, liberty, maybe has an American flag outside their house, or people who, you know, attended a Trump rally,” Gabbard said.
Wait a second.
I am a male.
I love freedom and liberty.
I am flying an American flag outside my house right now.
Am I going to be put on a list somewhere?

“Some people may wish to express their views on social justice or inequity or equity issues such as black lives matter or LGBTQ pride on their face coverings, shirts, or wristbands. That will be deemed approved because it applies with a zero-tolerance stance,” said the speaker. “However if any associate wears all, blue, white lives matter shirts or face coverings, that will be not appropriate.”

SUPREME COURT REDEFINES SEX DISCRIMINATION TO INCLUDE LGBTQ

It is a sad day in the United States of America.  Let me say I as a Christian do not want harm or loss of job to anyone in America, however when a Church or other Christian organization would have to hire a gay person that is a wrong.  Deeply held morality from bodies of faith should and must be kept.  What is even more shocking  is that a conservative justice Gorsuch appointed by Trump has joined the libs on the court.  Roberts is and always will be a loose cannon, but Gorsucch?  One never knows the way an appointee will vote.  I will be curious to know if this will include hiring of LGBTQ persons or not.  If so, it will send ramifications through the faith community.  Churches should have the right and employees to hire who they want.

I understand this ruling was on a certain particular case that had nothing to do with faith institutions, but does anyone think it will  end there.  No, they are and always have been coming for Churches.
