Contending for the Faith Part 4

I have been a Bible student for over 45 years, many of those if not all have been in teaching the Word of God. Over the years I have seen different fads and movements of God proclaimed as the next greatest. Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and we got back to what works best, and that is humility before God and a sincere desire to study and obey the Word.

I have two concerns that I may later elaborate on but one is the new idea that we rely so heavily on the Prophetic. I believe in the Word of God, and every “word” from God must line up with His Word. If it doesn’t it’s false, and if it doesn’t come true it’s false. Case closed. That’s the way it is.

We have become so lazy in this world with all the instant information, that we don’t or won’t seek out the answer in the Bible. We had rather take a quick fix from a “Prophet.” Nothing says Christian more than a dog eared Bible that is about to fall apart.

Final word of warning. Get in a Church or fellowship. Where the whole Bible is taught. It is important that each follower reads and knows the Word of God. Ask questions and contend for the faith! Rh

2 Timothy 3:16-17. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reroof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man or woman of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Contending For The Faith – Part 3

Pastors and churches have become very proficient in getting people “saved,” but not very good at getting them discipled. Preachers know how to pull at the heart strings to get people emotionally connected enough to confess Christ, raise your hand, pray a sinner’s prayer. Don’t misunderstand, there is nothing at all wrong with that. In fact every person has a starting point and that is it.

The Word in Matthew 28:19 tells us to “Go therefore and make disciples.” Hardest part of church life is being taught the Word. Teaching involves letting people know right from wrong in behavior and conduct. Teaching and instructing new converts may seem boring and not as exciting or glamorous as the jump and praise of a worship time, but is needed even more.

New converts may not know much of church culture and little of how to study and pray, WE as the church need to get on the ball and learn how to instruct and disciple newbies. Grab someone and be a mentor. Study after Church study shows us that few people in the pews truly understand what it means to have a Biblical World View. Each one teach one. We are all called to be one on one teachers! Take someone under your wing and be responsible for them.

Knowing right from wrong is not hard, but don’t settle for almost right. In this day and age we need clarity and a firm footing to survive the present evil day. Rh

Contending for the Faith Part 1

Commentary writer Matthew Henry said “a traitor inside the church is worse than a thousand outside the church.” Many times those of us who strictly contend for the faith are looked upon as hard liners or too conservative, but in society today fundamental truth needs to be shouted from the rooftops. When so called Pastors deny any part of the Bible as the word of God, or try to minimize or throw away what God has said, they are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Shepards are called to lead and feed the flock of God. Today not so much. (Isaiah 56:10-12) Pastors need to speak out on issues from their pulpit! Don’t be a sissy. Don’t be afraid because now is the time for men of God to be leaders not follows. We should change the atmosphere wherever we go. Find a man like that to support. Brave and strong in the Lord. By the way, get involved in what is happening today politically as well. Get out of the Church and do something. Preach issues from your pulpit. Tell your parishioners God will judge your vote. Vote Biblical values!

Most of our moral issues plaguing us today stem from nonsensical interpretation of the scriptures. Pastors, of which I am one, drive me crazy with the their fear of losing members. Preach the word, be a good Bible teacher. Don’t compromise. An old Preacher told me this over 40 years ago, “Son the people who are with you can’t leave you, and the people who aren’t with you can’t stay.” What he meant was those who want the truth will be drawn to you and those who want their ears tickled will leave. Great advice for any endeavor, just be yourself and say what is right and true and be passionate.

If you have as good Pastor, encourage him constantly. He needs it. If you go to a dead and dry church, get out of it. Christian’s don’t need junk food, they need to be fed from the Word. Rh

Happy New Year

I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, most of which we break long before Valentine’s Day. But I am big on the Biblical concept of putting things behind us and looking forward. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that “old things are passed away, behold all things are new.” The only time I look back on ‘22 is to rejoice in the victories God has wrought. Flipping a school board to conservative majority, and building my organization to where Christian Conservatives is now a part of the vernacular of our community. The new year is a clean slate of abundant possibilities. A clean slate to make it what we will. For me I want to drive a state into the ground and say I will not go back to any former issues, sin, or attitudes. I am here and I am only going forward, getting better and realizing the abundance that God has for me. New year means new challenges and new demons to conquer. Issues are before me and I am asking for direction on what and how to tackle them. I am asking for three things, 1- Revelation to grasp the hidden, 2 – Vision to know my focus, and 3 – Wisdom to apply knowledge to the problem. Let’s do this, 2023 you better know my name cause I’m going to conquer you!! Rh

Well It’s Almost Over

2022 has been a horrific year. More stolen elections and more illegals gaining entry to our wonderful land. I am still amazed that this is the America of today. As I look back to where we were as a country 45 years ago I am shaken that our lack of freedoms and governmental heavy handedness is accepted by so many. We as Americans were free and happy going about our business in everyday life oblivious to what was probably going on behind the scenes. .

Look back on various events and see through the eyes of what we know today. The assassination of President Kennedy, (yes I remember where I was on that fateful day) which ripped our tranquil nation with fears not realized before. Soon after the escalation of the Vietnam War, one we never intended to win. Robert Kennedy shot in LA. Hippie culture that promised free love and drugs to escape the new reality. Riots in Detroit and LA and the hatred of one tribe against another. But, on the west coast we soon saw a Jesus People movement that ushered thousands into the Kingdom of God. Movements that started them are still around making disciples for Jesus.

Fast forward to today, we are experiencing hellish times now as I said in my opening paragraph. God is merciful, as He did something new then after such chaos and turmoil. He can do it again. Revival to awaken the Church, and a Move of God to transform us into His Image. However the spiritual evil we have today after turning our back on God in this nation will take effort and the empowering of the Holy Spirit. We are in a spiritual battle of demonic activity that has changed our culture. The fight is on for the very soul of America. It will be hard and long, but we must fight for our nation, a nation dedicated to God on the shores of what later became Jamestown Va.

We should ask ourselves two questions, Jeremiah 12:5 “If you have run with the footman, and they have wearied you, then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, they wearied you. Then how will you do in the floodplain (thicket) of the Jordan?

It’s been raining for a while now!

Christian Medical Worker Claims Her Livelihood was Taken Because of Beliefs – Took Final Stand on 1 Thing. By Western Journal

After 17 years of faithful service to her employer and her craft, a physician’s assistant was let go from her job at the University of Michigan Health-West.

The reason for Valerie Kloosterman’s termination was her refusal to participate in “gender reassignment” procedures, an action that ran counter to her “sincerely held religious beliefs” as a Christian, she said in a lawsuit filed Oct. 11 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

“I’m heartbroken. I had 17 years that I spent with patients and families, co-workers who sometimes I spent more time with than I did with my own family. And they took that away,” Kloosterman told Fox News. Full story at WesternJournal.com

In a blow to religious freedom, the U.S. Senate voted to overcome a Republican filibuster against an amendment to the so-called “Respect for Marriage” Act, clearing the way for the passage of a bill that critics say is “dangerous,” “deceptive,” and “harmful” to Christian businesspeople and nonprofits soon to face legal harassment.
